THE PORTEYO (BREAKFAST HALL) & RECEPTION
Our refined lobby, the Porteγo, serves as a welcoming meeting point for our guests. Here, they can enjoy their breakfast, exchange thoughts and experiences from their stay on our island, play backgammon, chess, or other board games, or browse through our collection of books in the library.
A staircase within the lobby leads to the mezzanine, where the hotel’s reception is located. From there, guests can access the rooftop terraces of the building, offering a journey through the traditional multi-level architecture of the residence—an architectural heritage with roots in Minoan design.
Each level features a small sitting area, creating relaxed zones where guests can enjoy peace and seclusion. As one ascends through the levels, the view opens up unobstructed toward the plain, the olive groves, the vineyards, and the surrounding villages.
COURTYARD
An arched door leads inside to the courtyard, which is the central meeting and relaxation area. It is enclosed, according to the standards of the fortress architecture of the building as it provided security during the difficult years of the Turkish occupation. Today it ensures privacy for our visitors. With comfortable seating, the courtyard provides a welcoming space where guests can enjoy their breakfast or coffee under the Cretan sun or enjoy their drink in the cool of the night.
From the courtyard are the entrances to two of our suites, the Stable and the Oven House.
PATIO
The atrium, with independent entrances to two suites, the Fournospito (bedroom) and the Duplex, highlights the traditional character of the property. Each entrance leads to a separate suite offering guests complete privacy and independence.
From the atrium through a vaulted corridor, we are led to the second exit of the residence, giving the feeling of a maze.
The building’s architecture retains traditional features such as stone walls, wooden windows and soaring arches, creating an atmospheric and charming space.
